About Aber-porth Village Hall

Aber-porth Village Hall is run by the community for the community. A Charitable Incorporated Organisation, it has 14 trustees — all local people — who meet on the first Thursday of every month (except August).

Our spaces

We manage several spaces for the enjoyment and wellbeing of Aber-porth residents and visitors.

Aber-porth Village Hall

A large main hall, smaller hall, meeting room, large modern kitchen plus an airy meet and greet area, consultation room, accessible toilets and a fully accessible Changing Places facility with hoist. The hall has a hearing induction loop, is wheelchair accessible, and has a large car park with EV charging points and accessible bays.

Primarily a sports hall, with a meeting room, kitchen and toilet facilities. It houses the community fridge, Dillad Dwywaith — our recycled clothes rail — and the community garden.

Green spaces

The recreation ground beside Canolfan Dyffryn; the Lower Welfare Park; and parkland and a woodland walk fronting onto Dyffryn and Dolwyn beaches, which forms part of the “safe route to school”. We also manage all three public car parks in the village — all donations are used to support the hall.

Our history

Nearly a century of service

The heritage display telling the story of the village hall
  1. 1928

The Lower Welfare Park was gifted to the community. The original village hall was a small building on what is now Bryn Seion car park.

  2. 1935

The Village Hall Committee was formed to build the existing village hall, then merged with the Welfare Committee to form the Aberporth Village Hall and Welfare Committee.

  3. 1950s

The smaller Festival Hall was added in the early 1950s, along with parcels of land at Penrodyn and the woodland near the beach. The charity was established under a trust deed in 1951.

  4. 1996

Canolfan Dyffryn was built with SportsLot funding, initially as a youth club managed by a separate charity which later deregistered.

  5. 2018

Changing demographics led AVH to take on the management of Canolfan Dyffryn.

  6. 2020

The current committee restructured and launched a project to rebuild the village hall, which was in very poor condition.

  7. 2024

The new Aber-porth Village Hall is open!
